National Parks Service proposes ban to Athletics on National Mall

The National Parks Service’s most visited parks

“With the completion of the turf recovery of this National Mall we have been working to maximize our athletic field space in non-memorial/monument Regions of the playground,” stated Michael Litterst, public affairs professional for NPS.

The Washington Monument reasons is currently closed for turf recovery through 2018.

Lately, NPS denied a license to a festival that desired to deliver a 45-foot-tall nude woman statue on the mall, citing the prospect of turf damage among the reasons.

The new proposal will be rolled out weekly and there’ll be a public comment phase.
